About the role:
Excalibur Teaching School Alliance offers the school-led route into teaching (School Direct) and is accredited by either the University of Bristol or Bath Spa University. It is a one-year programme starting from September through to July and leads to the award of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with up to 60 level 7 credits and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
School Direct is a school-led initial teacher training (ITT) programme; it provides a great experience if you want to train and learn ‘on the job’. On our School Direct route you will learn hands-on in the classroom and at the university. You’ll be part of a school based teaching team from the very start, receiving support from experienced teachers and mentors. You’ll know in advance which schools you will be placed with and you will be able to develop positive working relationships with the teachers there. You will have the opportunity to become immersed in school life, which means when you begin your first job you are more able to understand the life and times of a school.
Importantly, you will access an outstanding academic programme of study at the University of Bristol or Bath Spa University which will support you to understand the theory behind teaching whilst developing and practicing your skills in school.
