Local Governing Body Clerk
From 01 September 2017 Excalibur Academies Trust will have vacancies at four of its academies; Burbage Primary School, Oare Primary School, St Katharine’s Primary School and John O’Gaunt School Hungerford for a clerk to support the Local Governing Body. The four vacancies could be filled by one person or split into any combination; please state your preference when applying.
The remit of the LGB at an Excalibur academy is to focus on:-

An effective clerk is vital to the success of the governing body; working closely with the Chair and Principal you will ensure that meeting agendas are prepared and papers distributed in a timely manner. At meetings you will take notes from which to prepare the minutes supporting and advising the Chair and governors on matters of policy and procedure and ensuring that all statutory and delegated obligations are met. Following meetings you will produce accurate and succinct minutes which record agreed actions and decisions demonstrating that governors are effectively fulfilling their remint. You will also provide support with governor elections, appointment and induction and maintain governing body records as required.
Each academy has six LGB meetings a year (one per term) which take place in the evening. You will need to be self-motivated and well organised with good IT skills and the ability to plan and prioritise your workload to ensure that deadlines are met. It is essential that you are able to work with diplomacy, sensitivity and absolute confidentiality at all times.
Previous experience is not prerequisite as full training will be given with support and mentoring from the Clerk to Directors.
