St John’s Marlborough
Sited on Granham Hill above the historic market town of Marlborough, St John’s is an internationally renowned 11-18 co-educational Academy. Our new buildings are integrated into a landscape that is classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is quite unique.
At St John’s everyone is valued for who they are and for what they may become, and every student is treated as an individual. We aim to provide an environment where every student can thrive and develop, whatever their talents or aspirations. Our reputation as a caring academy which sets very high academic standards in a disciplined environment is well known.
We are proud, as an academy, to stand for quality – quality of teaching and learning. We believe that these are both exceptional but we also know that other things are important if our children are to be successful. We place a high emphasis on developing a proper sense of values – respect for others, a responsible attitude towards the community, care for the environment and a pride in oneself and one’s appearance. Personal, social and health education underpin the academic curriculum because we want every student to gain the skills to lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.
We are determined to give our students the very best education possible to enable them to realise their potential and take their place in a rapidly changing society. Preparation for global citizenship, independent thinking, high self-esteem and confidence are all hallmarks of the St John’s student. We want our students to make a difference to the future of the planet and our educational programmes seek to bring this goal to fruition.
The school was rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in May 2014
‘St John’s was instrumental in forming Excalibur Academies Trust in 2012 because it believes that a world class education can be best delivered by strong local clusters of schools collectively taking responsibility for the educational journey of all children in the area.’
