Inspirational Hungerford students have become some of the best maths performers in Britain

Inspirational Hungerford students have become some of the best maths performers in Britain.

The Year 7 and 8 John O’ Gaunt students achieved some incredible results in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge.

The Challenge is designed to make students think, solve interesting problems and get even better at maths.

Year 7 student Isis Rota, aged 12, came out with a Gold award and achieved the best rating in the school. She is now lining up a career in either maths, acting or sport – all of which she is passionate about.  Isis said “It was a surprise to win but I was really happy. I enjoy the lessons and sometimes we do maths quizzes.”  Other students to excel included Year 8 students Jake Roberts and Toby Wheeler, and Year 7 students Phoebe Digweed, Beau Collins and Sophie Orchard.

Principal Alan Henderson said: “We are so proud of all these students. Maths is a key lesson for life and launches some great careers.”

JOG achieved fantastic maths GCSE results last summer and are on course to deliver the same again this year.
